STRESZCZENIE
The aim of the study was to evaluate changes in the level of total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, and glucose in older women with spondyloarthrosis, who underwent whole-body cryotherapy treatments. The experimental group, which comprised 69 older women between 65 and 70 years of age, was randomly divided into three sub-groups. Each subgroup was exposed to different physiotherapeutic procedure for two weeks: cryotherapy, kinesio-therapy, and cryotherapy combined with kinesiotherapy. The control group comprised 25 women who did not get any therapeutic intervention. The level of total cholesterol, LDL fraction, HDL fraction, triglycerides, and glucose was assessed for each group. No significant changes in any of the studied parameters of fat fractions were observed. In women exposed to both cryotherapy and kinesiotherapy, the level of fasting glycemia decreased significantly. Applying whole-body cryotherapy to older women with spondyloarthrosis does not cause changes in the level of cholesterol and triglycerides, but may cause changes in the level of glucose..

Keywords: whole-body cryotherapy, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose
